5 Key Steps to take when A Leak or Flood occurs in your home or building.
- First Identify where the Leak is coming from. Is it a leak under your Kitchen Sink? Is it a leak in a pipe from the ceiling above? Has someone turned on your outside water spicket and left it on?
- Very Important, next turn off your main water shutoff valve. This can be a ball Valve, or Gate Valve, both residential or commercial. This will stop more water from spreading.
- Contact your local plumber or potentially a Handyman to repair the broken pipe or Valve that is not closing properly or deteriorated.
- After the leak is stopped, Repaired (even temporarily) then asses the extent of the water intrusion and contact a company to extract the water. Extraction from Flooring, or Carpet, to Walls and Cabinets. Furniture also.
- Upon water extraction and drying machines used, have Drying Logs created and contact Insurance companies and adjusters if prudent to do so.
